Description
This workshop will discuss the policies that should first be in place for eligible and ineligible volunteer applicants, the free web sites and the sites that charge for information. This workshop will discuss the collective process that good job descriptions, written applications, reference questionnaires, and interviews play in screening volunteers. It will include stories of successful and unsuccessful screenings of volunteers and the implications for not screening a volunteer if there is “incident.” This is an interactive workshop so bring your questions!
Presenter
Glen Tilot is a 1981 graduate of UW-Green Bay with a Bachelor of Social Work Degree. Glen was a Social Worker / Volunteer Coordinator for 37 ½ years - most with Brown County Health & Human Services Department. Glen coordinated six different volunteer programs for Brown County, the largest being the Pals Program, a mentoring program for youth referred by Child Protective Services. Glen recruited, screened, matched, and case managed hundreds of volunteer matches during his career.
Glen has been the recipient of numerous local, State, and National awards including: the UW-Green Bay “Outstanding Alumni” and “Community Partner” Awards, the Chamber of Commerce “Daniel Whitney Award,” the Leadership Green Bay “Leo Frigo Award,” as well as their inaugural inductee into the Leadership Green Bay Hall of Fame, the National Community Leadership Award, the National Association of Social Work (NASW) – Wisconsin Chapter – “Distinguished Social Worker Award,” the Wisconsin Volunteer Coordinators Association “Distinguished Service Award,” and many others.
