Habitat Wisconsin River Area on September 11, 2019 with Veterans Affairs Secretary Mary Kolar

As Wisconsin’s veteran population faces growing housing burdens, Habitat for Humanity of Wisconsin is working to help improve the homes of the state’s veterans. In the face of an aging housing stock there is a increased need for home repairs and rehabilitation. HFH Wisconsin is seeking to place emphasis on rehabilitating veteran’s homes to promote longevity in homeownership. To accomplish this goal, HFH aims to encourage collaboration between Habitat affiliates and external organizations to better serve our state’s veteran population.

Her Story - Celebrating Everday Heroes

Her Story is a special project to kick off Habitat for Humanity of Wisconsin’s She Served program, a statewide effort to honor Wisconsin women who have served in our nation’s armed forces.  During this unprecedented time in our country’s history, we recognize that others have joined our veterans in serving our country with courage and self-sacrifice, the essential workers who have been on the front lines in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Her Story project tells the stories of everyday heroes who have made an impact, whether it be in our military, or as medical professionals, store clerks, first responders, or others who have risked their lives to help keep us safe and our communities strong.
