Sustainability Programming - AmeriCorps VISTA Project with HFH La Crosse

VISTA Project Goal
You’ll help to develop & manage sustainable programming targeted at low-income neighborhoods and households – such as introducing urban agriculture, establishing renewable energy solutions, constructing stormwater mitigation using native plantings, and implementing interactive, educational opportunities – that will increase La Crosse’s impact on low-income housing, on a larger scale
Project Objectives
HABITAT RENEW – As part of the Sustainability Team, continue the ReNew the Block pilot project in the Logan Northside Neighborhood. This project may include home weatherization/energy efficiency, renewable energy, stormwater mitigation, and an outdoor environmental classroom at the local middle school.
CAMPUS DUMPSTER DIVERSION – Plan and oversee the second annual Campus Dumpster Diversion event to help students and renters reduce the amount of waste generated at the end of the spring semester.
SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION - Coordinate with staff to research, develop, and implement sustainable construction practices on build sites.
