VISTA Project Goal

This VISTA will develop energy efficiency programming to help lower utility costs for homeowners and promote the importance of sustainable and energy efficient building practices.

Project Objectives

ENERGY AUDITS – Develop a program for conducting home energy audits to help low-income households lower their energy usage and utility costs. Partner with local groups to offer affordable energy services.

ISSUE EDUCATION – Work in partnership with local energy-focused organizations, nonprofits and community stakeholders to educate the community about the advantages of prioritizing energy efficiency in new buildings.

HOMEOWNER EDUCATION – Develop learning modules and/or workshops to educate low-income homeowners in the area of green living, energy efficient, and home utility costs.

About HFH WI River ARea

Serving Columbia, Iowa and Sauk Counties, Habitat for Humanity of Wisconsin River Area has its main offices in charming, historic Baraboo, home of the University of Wisconsin - Baraboo, and located near beautiful Devil’s Lake State Park. HFH Wisconsin River Area has built over 50 homes since its founding. They are dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating, and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.
