Grow Solar For Humanity: Helping Habitat Homes Go Solar

  • Habitat for Humanity of Wisconsin (map)

Description

Grow Solar for Humanity, powered by the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA), is an exciting partnership between Wisconsin Habitat for Humanity affiliates and Focus On Energy (FOE), a Wisconsin energy efficiency program.

In 2022, the program was able to work with Habitat affiliates across the state of Wisconsin resulting in 49 installations, and would not be possible without the support and collaboration from the Habitat for Humanity of Wisconsin, local affiliates, and FOE.

Learn more about this program and how your affiliate can help your partner families save money and support green energy.

Presenter

Doug Dettlaff has 15 years of experience with energy efficiency programs throughout the Midwest focusing on Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Insulation and Air Sealing, and Solar Electric. As a program consultant for Wisconsin’s Focus on Energy Doug is responsible for modeling software expertise, technical support for internal and external staff, and includes customer service duties.

As the Solar Program Manager, Taylor Ball primarily supports the Solar Group Buy programs that serve communities around the Midwest. In 2018, she applied to be the AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinator for The 30th Anniversary Energy Fair and was grateful to learn that the staff wanted her to join the team after her term ended in 2019. Taylor was fortunate to work in many areas of the MREA before transitioning to Grow Solar. She was able to earn her NABCEP PV Associate with her experience (and quite a bit of studying) in the process.
